Vir Biotechnology is a clinical-stage immunology company focused on combining immunologic insights with cutting-edge technologies to treat and prevent serious infectious diseases. Vir has assembled four technology platforms that are designed to stimulate and enhance the immune system by exploiting critical observations of natural immune processes. Our current development pipeline consists of five product candidates targeting hepatitis B virus, influenza A, human immunodeficiency virus and tuberculosis.

Vir Bio is seeking a talented and highly motivated scientist to join our Research team in a leadership role to define and implement strategies for identification and validation of targets from Vir’s functional genomics and innate immunity platform. This scientist will work with a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary group focused on host-directed targets for infectious disease. The successful candidate will creatively guide application of advanced cell-based technologies as a part of Drug Discovery efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conceive of and implement cell-based assays and technologies probing modulation of potential targets gleaned from Vir’s functional genomics and innate immunity platform
  • Design, direct and execute creation of relevant in vitro models critical to the evaluation of compound activity and mechanism of action
  • Focus on key proof of concept studies to generate decision making data package
  • Influence scientific and business decision-making (e.g. project selection and resource allocation) with creative insights and rigorous analysis
  • Develop proposals for new projects
  • Lead internal partnerships with a diverse group of Vir scientists, including functional genomics, microbiology, computational biology, pharmacology and medicinal chemistry
