Senior/Principal Scientist, Bioinformatics

Cambridge, MA - Research & Development Full-time
Rubius Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing a new class of medicines called Red Cell Therapeutics™. Our proprietary RED PLATFORM® was designed to genetically engineer and culture Red Cell Therapeutics™ that are selective, potent and off-the-shelf allogeneic cellular therapies for the potential treatment of several diseases across multiple therapeutic areas. Our therapies can potentially be used to kill tumors in cancer and to regulate the immune system for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Our IND for RTX-240, our first oncology candidate for the treatment of solid tumors, has been cleared by the FDA. Additionally, we plan to file an IND for RTX-321 for the treatment of HPV-positive tumors by year-end.
We are proud of our passionate, high-performance culture – one based on a set of values that are the cornerstone of who we are and how we hold ourselves accountable. Founded in 2013, we are based in Cambridge, MA and currently expanding across all functions within the organization. Red blood cells are no longer just for carrying oxygen. Rubius Therapeutics is seeking an energetic and highly motivated bioinformatician to join our team to build our bioinformatics capabilities and infrastructure. The individual hired will report directly to our Chief Scientific Officer and will be responsible for enabling and implementing bioinformatics tools and systems to support development of our Red Cell Therapy platform. This role is very cross-functional with key interactions across platform biology and clinical/ pre-clinical pharmacology with an opportunity to impact multiple novel research programs.
  • Lead the expansion of bioinformatics capabilities and infrastructure using internal and external resources
  • Collaborate with research and bioinformatics scientists to conceive informatics analysis strategy leveraging advanced machine learning/AI algorithms to support discovery and pre-clinical studies.
  • Develop computational and statistical frameworks for data mining, processing and analysis to support vector optimization activities
  • Oversee the development of computational methods and pipelines relating to complex data set analyses from both internal experiments and samples from clinical trials, including for example, RNA-seq, TCR sequencing, and neoantigen prediction.
  • Oversee utilization and potentially development of shared and personalized neoantigen algorithms for immuno-oncology studies
  • Develop and/or implement software tools to support key workflows (e.g. codon optimization and High-dimensional construct screening)
  • Develop and implement strategies for data visualizations to support project-level decision making
  • Work with IT to establish/enhance infrastructure to support data collection, storage, and analysis for bioinformatics efforts
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop strategies for experimental design and analysis
