Berkeley Lights is enabling precise single cell selection and manipulation to empower cell line development, antibody discovery, and engineering and manufacturing of personalized cellular therapies. We are a late-stage start-up with dedicated individuals spanning the fields of Biology, Chemistry, Microfluidics, Genomics, Physics, Engineering, and Business. Our scientists develop unprecedented capabilities and revolutionize the biological sciences. Our engineers are unconstrained by traditional disciplines and apply engineering excellence to enable breakthrough scientific discoveries. Together we are a Team that disrupts the way biology is understood, measured, applied, and commercialized.
Whether you are a rising senior, about to graduate, a Masters or Ph.D. student in a bioinformatics-related field, we are excited for you to join our Bioinformaticians this spring/summer! This person will be trained in the development of improved methods, analysis, pipelines, and algorithms of next-generation sequencing data. Our Bioinformatics Intern will enjoy life in the San Francisco Bay Area, activities with other summer interns, and start-up company culture, all while working on novel bioinformatics products.
Work on complex computation infrastructures and environments.Collaborate with software engineering, hardware and bioinformatics teams.Exercise judgment in defining methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.Translate findings into recommendations for the development of new products.Exact responsibilities will be decided in collaboration with intern mentor(s).
Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. students in Bioinformatics or related fields.Experience with cloud computations.Strong command of statistics as applied to the analysis of real data.Demonstrated expertise in at least one programming language (Java/C++, Go, Python (numpy, etc.), R, proficiency in Linux environmentExperience with source control practices and tools (Perforce, Git, Arcanist, etc.)
