ION is looking for a smart and ambitious candidate to join our Tax team within our acquisition Fidessa Group which is based in Woking.

What are we trying to do?

The tax team is responsible for all aspects of ION Group’s tax function, from advising management of the tax implications of strategic business decisions to ensuring that compliance deadlines are met around the world. 

What do we need help with?

There is an opportunity for an individual to join our tax team to utilise their skills as a Tax Manager to supplement the experience and resources of the existing team. Currently, the Group is going through a period of significant expansion and with a growing UK presence, there is a need for an experienced tax compliance and advisory manager to join the team.

The successful candidate in the role will display strong attention to detail and organisational skills, strong stakeholder and project management skills, experience both in tax technical issues and their practical application, and the ability to work proactively to ensure (1) that the group’s tax compliance obligations are completed accurately and on-time and (2) that timely and accurate tax advice is provided to stakeholders.

What will you be doing:

Reporting to the Fidessa Head of Tax and working with the wider tax team, the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

Preparation of group company year-end tax models and significant contributions to the preparation of the Fidessa subgroup consolidated tax provision
Preparation of IFRS tax disclosures for financial statements and ensuring individual group entity taxes are accounted for correctly
Ownership of the tax compliance affairs of various group entities including:

- UK corporation tax returns, R&D claims and associated tax compliance requirements
- UK VAT, EC sales and associated indirect tax compliance requirements
- Working with overseas advisors and internal local finance teams to ensure local corporate tax compliance requirements are met and applied consistently across the group
- Responding to ad hoc tax queries

Preparation of analysis and reports for the wider ION tax team and other stakeholders within the business.
Involvement in group wide UK tax projects and providing ad hoc support and advice on UK tax matters

Education and expertise:

ACA / ACCA / CTA qualified
1.1 or 2.1 degree in any field preferred
4+ years of tax experience
Strong tax compliance experience gained from a significant accountancy practice
Solid grounding in UK corporation tax and tax accounting
Experience of managing the tax affairs of large complex groups
IFRS accounting knowledge
The ability to use Alphatax is preferred
