This newly created position will head up a new Bioinformatics group at 4DMT that will work closely with Capsid Discovery and Engineering, the Payload Engineering, Gene Expression, and Manufacturing/Analytical Sciences groups.

  • Build a world-class team to develop the best AAV vectors with a ‘disease first’ approach.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop therapeutics
  • Effectively mentoring junior level staff and acting as a resource for providing scientific expertise
  • Contributing to building a culture that embraces continuous learning, improvement, and innovation and encourages team members to expand their technical skill base and deepen their gene therapy expertise.
  • Utilizing appropriate scientific approaches to understand characteristics of adeno-associated virus variants to drive decisions and assess the potential application of the company’s lead adeno-associated virus vectors and products 
  • Education
  • Ph.D. degree and at least two years of post-doctoral experience in one of the following disciplines: Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, Virology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry
  • Experience
  • Knowledge and 5+ years industry experience in preclinical research and development (adeno-associated viral vectors preferred)
  • Solid understanding of bioinformatics as related to genetics, genomics/genetics, molecular biology, protein chemistry, genetic sequencing methods e.g. NGS
  • Experience and familiarity with associated programming, software and computational biology. Ability to code custom scripts for data analysis
  • Strong experience with NGS from both the sample prep/instrumentation side as well as the data analysis side. Proven ability to establish NGS pipelines from scratch for the interrogation of complex systems
  • Experience building and leading teams
  • Knowledge of both data science/programming/bioinformatics and biology/virology, and ability “to bridge the gap” between experts in both fields
  • Skills
  • Proven experience in design, coordination, analysis, and documentation of basic science studies
  • Successful demonstration of ability to work independently in designing and developing executing new protocols
  • Successful demonstration of ability to rigorously analyze and interpret diverse, multidisciplinary data sets
  • Ability to multi-task and support more than one project simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team-based environment; supportive of multiple viewpoints and approaches
  • Strong organizational skills, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral) with demonstrated ability to present ideas, information and data effectively via one on one discussions, team meetings, and external partnership interactions
