Principal Scientist, Bioinformatics

Endpoint Health is growing and we are looking for a Bioinformatician Principal Scientist to join our team. The Principal Scientist Bioinformatician will support research and development teams in biomarker discovery, testing, validation, and product development efforts.

Strong experience in analyzing biomarker data to draw biological and clinical insights.Knowledge of the impact of sample processing on data quality such as biological sample handling, transportation, storage, sample preparation, and instrument parameter considerations.Experience starting with raw genomic and transcriptomic data through primary and secondary analysis.Strong transcriptomics experience with an emphasis on differential expression analysis.Experience with other transcriptomic analyses is a plus, including: Variation analysis (RNA editing detection, variant detection, gene fusion detection), Long and short-read isoform detection, microRNA-based analysis, and lncRNA-based analysis.Experience with newly generated as well as historical transcriptomic data derived from microarray, RNA sequencing, PCR, and related cross-platform considerations.Multi-omic experience is a plus, including genomic, epigenomic, proteomic, metabolomic, lipidomic, and also including electronic health record (e.g. vitals, lab results).Strong experience in machine-learning methodologies and related software tools.Experience developing biomarkers as prognostic and predictive tools relating to therapy response and clinical outcomes including morbidity, mortality, length of hospital stay, and cost of care.Software development experience is a plus.Experience managing individuals as direct reports.
Work with clinicians, biologists, statisticians, data scientists, software developers, assay developers, engineers, product developers, and product managers to:Review internally and externally available data, analyses, and results. Formulate and evaluate clinical hypothesis.Design related experiments employing historical data.Design prospective experiments for generating necessary data.Process and analyze data.Formulate results and draw conclusions.Develop software to automate data pipelines.Identify candidate biomarkers amenable to in vitro diagnostic test development.Design analytical and clinical studies.
Graduate degree (PhD) in a Science/Engineering field with appropriate experience is preferred.Minimum of 5 years industry experience in relevant field.Strong experience with relevant tools and languages including R, Python, Bash, Linux environment, Git, and AWS.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Excellent oral and written communication skills.
